GSM operator Vodafone
India has launched a app platform that enables to developers, both domestic and
international, to build apps and sell them through telephone bills. This will
provide customers with access to a wide range of apps.
The company said "The
developer platform will provide help to the growing community of application
developers, mobile phone users and content service providers." The app platform will open the Vodafone's network
resources such as subscriber profile, location and messaging to developers and
content providers to built their offerings.
Vivek Mathur, Chief
Operating Officer, at Vodafone says "With the growth of the Smartphone’s
and mobile internet, people are more interested in mobile applications and
content services. TO strengthen the ecosystem for application developers and
content service providers and partner with them, we have launched the developer
platform."
He also added "we
expect the developer community to create an applications and content services
across Videophone’s customer base. The platform will help in streamlining the
partner and transparent commercial settlements."
