Apple may hire GlobalFoundries to make iPhone, iPad chips

Apple is probable to appoint chip manufacturer GlobalFoundries to make some of the chips used in its iPhones and iPads devices.

GlobalFoundries might soon start on manufacturing some of Apple's chips at its Fab 8 factory in Malta, N.Y., Cnet reports

At the moment, Samsung makes the majority of chips for Apple's mobile devices, which includes Apple's powerful new A7 chip that is used in the iPhone 5S, the report added.

Apple has been looking to develop its chip partners and decrease its dependency on Samsung, after the two companies have violently fought over patents and Smartphone competition over the last few years.
