Twitter has comprehensive its local trends to 21 Indian
cities, as a part of its global growth of trends to 160 more locations.
Twitter Trends are an easy way to find out what people
are talking about on Twitter at that moment. Trends are obtainable at various
'levels' - around the world, in your country, or in your city. By checking out
Trends, you can find what's 'trending' - from breaking news to current hot
topics that are most related to you. To find these new locations, click
"Change" in the Trends sidebar on twitter.com, and select the city or
country you're most interested in.
Twitter publicized that the countries of Belgium,
Greece, Kenya, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and Ukraine will be getting Twitter
Trends for the very first time. More than 130 new cities in countries that
already have Trends have been added to the list as well.
Twitter also exposed that after the latest addition,
Trends are now accessible in 21 Indian cities: Ahmadabad, Amritsar, Bangalore,
Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Luck now,
Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Rajkot, Ranchi, Srinagar, Surat, and Thane. Of
course, an all-India Trends option is presented as well
There are other third party web apps that provide local
trending topics such as Trends map; however, for users it’s much easier to
track trending topics from Twitter itself. This also means that the localized
trending topics are available on Twitter’s Smartphone application; however, its
expediency on aiding discovery is controversial. Personally, I hardly make use
of Twitter’s restricted trending topics on my Smartphone.
