Spotify for New Windows Phone Finally Arrives

For three months, Windows phone users have been reserved from Spotify. The app wasn’t released on the Windows platform right away, but it’s now up in the store as a beta version. The original Windows Phone 7 Spotify app was built through a third party via Microsoft funding, with the goal being to get the app onto the app store as soon as possible to fuel the demand. The concern for Microsoft was that after the shift to 8, the app had to be rebuilt from the ground up, which explains the three-month lag time. But, the wait is officially over, and the app is ready to download, now across the full continuum of platforms.

Spotify, which is being released as a beta, instantly increases the size of your music library by millions of tracks, making it easy to discover new songs and artists. You can create your own playlists, or browse and treat in the ones your friends put together. Going off the grid? The app also lets you download and enjoy your playlists without an Internet connection. Tracks you add to any playlist are concurrently available on your phone and PC.

Spotify, which boasts 20 million songs, does offer a free trial on the new Windows Phone 8 client. To try the service, you require to create a Spotify account first, then log in on the app. Without a credit card or any other details, that gets you 48 hours of free music. To make longer the trial to a full 30 days, Spotify says to follow the email instructions it sends after account creation.

The application will be available to Windows 8 Phone users for a free 30 day trial.  If the user wants to continue with the service following the trial, the cost of the app is $9.99 a month.  It is available in the Windows Phone store.
