India
is expected to have close to 165 million mobile internet users by March 2014,
up from 87.1 million in December 2012 as more people are accessing the web
through mobile devices and dongles, a report by Internet and Mobile Association
of India IAMAI and IMRB said today, PTI reported.
The
number of users improved to 87.1 million by December 2012 from 78.7 million
users in October 2012, which is usual to further grow to 164.8 million by March
2015,” the study said. Of the 78 million users, 61 million were off-deck user’s
access all websites and 15 million were on deck user’s access operator particular
websites.
While
the news is expected to be good news for India’s hopeful mobile advertising
industry, which is approximate at 5 to 7 per cent of the total advertising
sector, the report said that the average monthly bill of a user is Rs. 460.
Email,
social networking services SNS and messengers have high usage among mobile
internet user. Access online videos, games or reading online news are done
approximately 2 to 6 times a week. While online games are accessed by almost
50% of the Mobile Internet users, less than 30% of users read online news and fob
watch online videos.
The
IAMAI IMRB analysis for the research report enclosed all the eight metros as
well as 27 other cities across India, and nearly 21,000 households were
interviewed previous to December 2012. The report has also lengthily used the
previous rounds of the I-Cube reports that have laid down the creation of the
internet users in the nation.
